This is my first instructable so everything might not be perfect.

Please note that my first language isn't English.

This is a super simple name tag for your pet. It takes less than 5 minutes to make (not including drying process) and I think that it looks pretty nice. It is made from apple wood but any hardwood should work.

Step 1: Getting started

Here is a list of tools and materials you will need:

-A saw (any saw will work)

-A drill (Even a drill bit that you hold in your hand will work)

-Any drill bit that works on wood (Preferably a 3mm drill bit)

-Sandpaper (Or a sander)

-A Branch* from a hardwood** tree

-Epoxy (Make sure that the glue is clear when it dries)

*You will need a branch because you want the bark on the back.

**It shuld be hardwood because the piece will be less than a centimeter thick and softer woods will probably brake.

Step 2: Cut out the piece

First mark on top of the wood where to cut. It should be less than a centimeter thick. Now start sawing into the wood as far as you like. The further you saw the bigger the tag will be. When you have gone as far as you like then you just saw it off from above like in the pictures.

Tip: If you are using a hand saw (like I do) Then use a straigth pice of wood or metal to rest the saw on. Then you know you are cutting at a 90* angle.

Step 3: Sanding

Now that you have gotten the pice out it has a pretty rough face. Just start with some 80 grit sandpaper to sooth it out. You don't need to go super high on the grit. Just so that it dosn't feel like you would get a splinter. Remember, it's for your pet so it dosn't need to be super perfect. They don't care.

Step 4: Drill the hole

This is pretty simple. You use a 3mm drill bit to drill a hole in the corner.

Step 5: Text

Now you need to put some text on it. Put your name (or parents name) on it, your adress, phone number and all that.

Step 6: Water-proofing it

Now you take the epoxy and smir it out on the piece. Make sure that the entire pice is coverd. Also make sure that the hole isn't blocked. Now you let it dry off completley. If you are using 5-Minute epoxy then this should not take long.

Step 7: Attachment method

If you have some sort of a ring or method of attaching it to the collar then you are done but if not. Keep on reading.

I used som thin wire and twisted two lengths of it together. Then threaded it through the hole. Then make it a ring, put it on the collar and twist the ends together. Now you are done. Hope you and your pet likes it.
